Julia Solomon

My route to opera started with some luck when I was selected to sing in Covent Garden’s Children Chorus. It was the most fulfilling, fun and transformative experience and I knew opera would be with me for the rest of my life. Later on as I struggled to choose between studying literature, philosophy, drama, music, history and languages at university, I realised there was no need to abandon my many interests - opera has it all!

I was born in London but spent much of my life in Araçuaí, my mother’s rural hometown in Brazil where wagons and playing hoop trundling in the street are still part of life! I love the theatre, discovering amazing places and foods, and am fascinated by the human condition.
